The Colt Start Is Too Important to Get Wrong
And what to do before you hand your horse over to someone
If you have a young horse, you already know that the colt start is one of the biggest decisions you are going to make for that animal. Get it right and you are building a foundation that protects that horse for the next 20 years. Get it wrong and you spend years trying to undo it, if you ever fully do.
So why do so many people hand their horse over to a trainer and genuinely not know what to expect?
But nobody ever really walks them through what the process looks like. And there is a lot of noise out there when it comes to colt starting so it can be hard to know what a quality program actually looks like from the inside
The Guy Down the Road vs. A True Professional
There is a big difference between someone who has started a couple of colts and someone who has built their entire career around doing it right.
A true professional colt starter has a plan. They have a process. They know what the horse needs at 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days and they don't skip steps because a horse is moving along quickly or because an owner is eager to get them home. They have nonnegotiables. And they have the experience to know what right actually looks like, because they have seen a lot of wrong.
That is what you are paying for. Not just rides. Not just a horse that will let you get on. You are paying for someone who understands horses well enough to set that young animal up for everything they are going to be asked to do for the rest of their life.
The colt start is not the place to go cheap or go convenient. It is the place to find the right person and trust the process.
What Does That Process Actually Look Like?
That is exactly what we are getting into on Tuesday, May 5th at 7:00 PM EST.
I am sitting down with Dan Chambers for a free live interview on our colt starting program. Dan has been starting colts his entire career. Colt starting is what he does, it is the foundation everything else is built on. And Tuesday night he is going to walk through the real process, straight from experience.
We are covering:
• What 30, 60, and 90 days actually looks like and where the horse should be at each stage
• What Dan will not skip or shortcut, no matter what
• How we keep owners connected to their horse's progress throughout training
• The investment side of a colt start and why it pays off for years to come
• When to book, what age he prefers, and the best time of year to start
This is not a sales pitch. It is a straight conversation about how we do things and why so that whether you send a horse to us or to someone else, you know what to look for and what questions to ask.
This Webinar Is for You If...
• You have a young horse and are thinking about a colt start this spring or fall
• You have sent horses to trainers before and felt like you were left in the dark
