This month has been full of forward movement around here.
We’ve had a lot of colts in the barn from sales horses to outside training horses getting started and building that foundation. There’s nothing better than watching a young horse begin to understand their job and gain confidence in the process.
On the younger side, Chisholm got his first rides this month and is already showing us just how nice of a horse he’s going to be. It’s always exciting to see that potential start to come together.
We’ve also been continuing our finish work with horses like Ebony and Doc, both of them solid ranch partners that are just fun to ride, capable, willing, and consistent.
We were also able to get a few horses out to a local show at KY Cowtown Arena and were really proud of how they showed up, quiet, confident, and ready to go to work.
One thing that’s been top of mind this month is this:
If you avoid the real issue, it never actually gets fixed.
It’s easy to work around a problem or manage it, but that only keeps you in the same place. Real progress comes from slowing down, identifying the root of the issue, and fixing it at the foundation.
That’s what creates clarity for the horse and for you.
I’m really excited about this one. We’re going to break down what actually improves your ranch riding scores. Transitions, positioning, and the details that make a difference in the pen.
If you’ve been putting in the work but not seeing the results you want, this will help bring clarity to what needs to change.
Inside the Circle, we’re focusing our monthly challenge on shoulder control.
This plays a huge role in your turnarounds, sidepass, balance, and self-carriage. When the shoulders are out of place, everything else starts to fall apart.
Each month we focus on one key piece like this so you can make real progress instead of guessing at what to work on next.
If you’ve been feeling stuck or lacking direction, this is where that changes.
Barn Talk is coming up on April 14th, and it’s always one of our favorite nights.
We still have a few spots left.
This clinic will focus on transitions, refining your runs, and improving your ranch riding scores with real-time feedback.
If you want to take what you’re learning and actually apply it, this is where that happens.
We have two spots left for our Spring Ranch Retreat here at the ranch.
This is one of my favorite things we offer, multiple days to really dive in, get consistent work, and make meaningful progress.
It’s not just about riding, it’s about building understanding, confidence, and relationships.
We were able to support the Young Guns 4-H Equine Drill Team by donating a participant spot to our Ranch Riding Clinic for their silent auction in Burlington, KY.
We’re excited to have the winner join us and always enjoy being able to give back to youth in this industry.
We have several horses continuing to progress, including some really solid, ready-to-go partners.
If you’ve been thinking about adding one to your program, now is a great time to start that conversation.
There’s a lot happening and a lot of opportunity to keep moving forward.
Let’s keep building.
